Lean Tools have found wide spread use in a range of industries. The presentations in the lecture will hopefully showcase a number of applications that should be of interest to practitioners and non users. The speakers come from a wide range of industries and applications.

Padraig Kelly has a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Industrial Engineering, a Masters of Business Administration and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He has a total of 15 years of experience in the field of Engineering and Quality management.In 2007 he moved to the healthcare sector where he has led Lean and Six Sigma events at major hospitals, clinical and testing laboratories, resulting in dramatically improved patient service, reduced turnaround time (TAT), increased job satisfaction and reduced workload for staff, reduced costs, and increased capacity. He has also developed and taught Lean Yellow-, Green-, and Black-Belt courses specifically tailored to the laboratory and healthcare environments.

Joseph Sullivan is a Senior Manager with over eleven years experience in rail and heavy engineering maintenance industries specifically in production operation management, manufacturing management, continuous improvement engineering. Joseph graduated from University of Limerick and has a Diploma in Quality Management System/Lean tools. He has been involved in delivery of large scale business improvement through application of lean tools.

Michael Nolan works for Enterprise Ireland. He has 13 years experience in consultancy, facilitation and generally helping companies improve their performance. His areas of special interest lie in Lean Business, Benchmarking, Business Strategy and Planning.

A late addition to the list of speakers is Kevin Weymes who is the MD of MICA Management Consulting, a specialist management consulting company focused on improving the performance and management of the maintenance function in medium size and large factories.
