This is your invitation to our first Danish technical visit and social event to be held on Friday 29th September 2017. We will have a guided tour around the 570MW Avedøre power station. It can work from biomass, and incorporates other measures to reduce environmental impacts. Block 1 has been re-built to fire with wood pellets, but will still be able to fire with coal. It has recently been fitted with an air cooler with a footprint 4m x 5m and 2.7m in height. It weighs 34 tons without water, and 50 tons with water. Block 2 is a multi-fuel burning facility, which consists of a main boiler, fired by wood-pellets, a straw-fired boiler and two gas turbines.

Meet at 10:30 on Friday 29th September 2017. This is open to existing committee members and also any other members who want to get more involved with the committee. Power plant tour:
Meet at 14:00 on Friday 29th September 2017. The duration of the tour is approx. two hours, finishing at 16:00. The address for the tour of Avedøreværket is Hammerholmen 50, 2650 Hvidovre. Meet at the main gate (hovedporten). There is parking available just inside the main gate on the left-hand side.

Important information about the tour: Everyone must be wearing long trousers and be wearing closed-toe shoes without any high-heels.

Avedøre is located to the South of the city, so it is best to arrive by car. But if you need to take public transport it is also possible in about 45 minutes from Copenhagen central station. Check your route onwww.rejseplanen.dkorwww.google.com/maps
