Description

Industry 4.0 – our next industry generation, holds the promise of increased flexibility in manufacturing, mass customization, increased speed, better quality and improved productivity, and thus enables companies to cope with the challenges of producing increasingly individualized products with a short lead-time to market and higher quality, and ultimately enhances companies’ competitiveness. Intelligent manufacturing in the context of Industry 4.0 aspires that manufacturing resources are converted into intelligent objects so that they are able to sense, act and behave within a smart and inter-connected environment which is usually enabled by advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-physical systems (CPS) and cloud computing. The speakers will be able to give a comprehensive review on associated topics such as intelligent manufacturing, IoT-enabled manufacturing, and cloud manufacturing. There will be a demonstration van from Festo which can be visited during the event.

Speaker(s)

Eberhard Klotz is head of Festo’s Industry 4.0 campaign, he has worked in Siemens Bosch. Barry Kennedy is the CEO of Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) and has worked in Research as well as in a wide range of roles in industry.
