Description

11 December 2020 19:00 CET

Shape memory alloys are special alloys that can be greatly deformed when cold but return to their “pre”-deformed shape when heated.

Commonly called “smart” materials, they represent an engineering marvel and are now widely used in different fields like aerospace, biomedical and oil & gas.

This webinar will cover general aspects of the SMAs, ranging from the theory of large deformations to the crystal structure, to the shape memory effects and industrial applications

Speaker(s)

Antonio Concilio, Ph.D. degree in Aeronautical engineering in 1989, Ph.D. in aerospace engineering in 1995. Currently the head of the Adaptive Structure Division at CIRA, the Italian Aerospace Research Centre. Since 2005 lecturer at the University of Naples "Federico II".
