Originally constructed in 1848 to serve the needs of the Waterford & Limerick Railway, Iarnród Éireann’s Limerick Works performs running & heavy maintenance on the entire Freight & Infrastructure Department’s fleet, as well as inspections & maintenance of the rolling stock for the Limerick & Cork commuter networks.

With an introduction from the President of Engineers Ireland, Professor Orla Feely, and hosted by Iarnród Éireann’s, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Peter Smyth, you are invited to join a virtual tour of the Limerick Works, showcasing the excellent work done by Peter’s dedicated teams of engineers & technicians.

The event will include a brief history of the Limerick Works, recent developments, video introductions to the maintenance processes & equipment used and the future plans for the Limerick Works.
