The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) Student Chapter was launched on the 21st November, 2016 at the UTT Point Lisas Campus. At the launch, the first IMechE SOFE competition in the Americas Region was held which involved students both from UWI and UTT presenting their topics of interest. Guest speakers at the launch included; Dr. Marian Watson (Associate Professor - Process Engineering), Dr. Denver Cheddie (Associate Professor - Utilities Engineering Group at UTT and also the facilitator for the IMechE UTT Student Chapter), Mr. William Hesser (IMechE Americas Region Young Member Representative), Dr. Solange Kelly (Assistant Professor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago), Mr. Sean Ocho (SOFE Coordinator). The guest Speakers all gave inspirational and motivational speeches to the audience based on their work and life experiences.
