Please note the venue has changed to Cambridge Consultants on the Science Park.Current surgical robots give surgeons the ability to precisely anddelicately manipulate tissue without requiring large incisions intothe body. The robots themselves are large and costly, however, whichlimit their use. We discuss some of the engineering underpinnings thatcause these robotic systems to be large, and talk through strategiesfor overcoming these limitations.
