Civil Engineers' Club Walk

This walk is being organised by the Civil Engineers' Walk Club, but any friends wishing to join the walk will be welcome.
Please note thatPRE-
REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL.
The walk is about 6 miles long, starting at Upper Green Road opposite the Chaser Inn. A circular walk from Shipbourne Common via Old Soar Manor, Plaxtol and the Fairlawne Park.

Starting time 9.45 for 10.00am

Walk OverviewThe walk is best described as undulating, with quite a few very well-maintained styles. Some road walking as well as fields, woods and grassy common. Walking poles may be of assistance, depending on the weather.

RouteShipbourne Common along the Greensands Way through Fairlawn Home Farm and on to the Kentish Rifleman at Dunk’s Green, where we head up to Old Soar Manor.
庄园是由英格兰遗产和the National Trust and is usually closed at the end of September, but will be opened up for us, where we can have a stop of up to 40 mins to look around. It is a thirteenth century medieval knights house and quite unique. It is free to the general public.
We complete a return walk via Plaxtol, Fairlawne House and Park to The Chaser Inn by The Common for lunch. There is lighting at the Manor, but a small torch may help to see in obscure areas.

LunchLunch will be at The Chaser Inn about 2.15 pm in the conservatory. Log fire promised. A menu will be circulated for those registering to facilitate pre-ordering.
As sunset is 16.14pm there is no time for a visit to Ightham Mote Café, which closes at 16.00pm, so we can stay at The Chaser Inn, relax and have afternoon tea before driving home.

You may only join the walk if you have pre-booked with Tony Barber.
If possible do not share transport to the start of the walk.
Please maintain social distancing while on the walk.
Please carry and use your own hand sanitiser. You may wish to carry a face mask in case of incident, but you do not need to wear it whilst walking.
Do not share drink, food or equipment.
