To celebrate Women in Engineering Day, the Tyne & Wear IMechE Young Members Panel are hosting a speakers’ event to learn more about the varied roles and opportunities for female engineers in the North East. This should be an inspiring event for anyone either working in or considering a career in engineering. This event is aimed at GCSE and sixth form students, college and university students, young professionals or anyone who wants to celebrate Women in Engineering Day.

Dr Phil Hackney will be giving a brief lecture on the myths surrounding additive manufacturing and explaining how it is used through the use of case studies from his experiences during his university teaching career. This event will focus on the use of additive manufacturing for engineering components in real-world scenarios, and the limitations & constraints that engineers will face when using this new technology.
