Description

Coldis central to modern life. It is an essential component in solutions for tackling a number of the most significant challenges facing human society today and into the future. For example, how to feed a growing global population, how to enable more people to access essential healthcare, how to meet an explosive growth inthe demand for digital data handlingand improved building comfort. Yet the role that cooling plays in our current and, more importantly, future global energy systems is all too oftenoverlooked. In his talk Dr Fox willdescribe why this must change. He will explain how the impact of increased urbanization, growing global affluence and climate change is predicted to lead to a boom in cooling demand in the next few decades. He will discuss the critical need to achieve sustainable energy provision for cooling to meet this demand and describe新的思考方式about the energy system for cooling, including the emergence ofthe ‘cold economy’ conceptand technologies that improve efficiency, reduce pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, harness renewables and utilise sources of cold that are currently wasted.”

Dr Foxis an internationally recognised expert in low carbon energy systems, sustainable food systems, cleantech and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

He is Chair of the IMechE Process Industries Division Board and a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Clean Energy and Public Engagement at Exeter University. Dr Fox is an Independent Consultant.
