Description

The Workington Transport Heritage Trust are a group of individuals dedicated to restoring vintage public transport vehicles. Principally at present their work is based around restoring buses, but the group has plans to work on restoring rail. Many of the buses worked on have local ties to the Leyland works that used to be based in the area.

Currently, the WTHT operate out of the Old Workington Fire Station on King Street. The West Cumbria Young Members have arranged a visit to the Old Fire Station starting at 1800 on Wednesday 23rdNovember for a talk about the activities of the WTHT and a tour of the facility. Children are welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult. This is an excellent opportunity to delve into a part of the engineering history of the local area and see first-hand the work that’s being carried out to ensure that this is preserved.

More information on the trust can be found atwww.wtht.co.uk
