Description

Despite technological advancements, human error is still the major cause of aviation incidents and accidents. Understanding the role of the human in our systems and processes, especially their strengths and weaknesses, is the last step to overcome in improving safety in aviation. This lecture details the challenges the aviation industry has to manage in order to make air travel the statistically safest form of transport.

Marcus Madden will speak about how the knowledge of human factors is interpreted and understood by Aerospace organisations in their ambition to achieve an appropriate Safety culture, with Just culture being a foundation on which a Safety culture is built.

Marcus has over 40 years’ experience in the aviation industry as an EASA, UK CAA and FAA licenced engineer, supervisor, and manager. Marcus has enjoyed a varied career, working all over the world for national flag carriers, low cost, and cargo operators, before joining Baines Simmons. His client experience is extensive, including the European Defence Agency, national aviation authorities (including the UK CAA), UK MAA, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, BAE System, Rolls Royce, QinetiQ, British Airways, IndiGo, SAAB, GE and Pratt and Whitney.
