Future of Rail Presentation Competition & Annual General Meeting





The Future of Rail Presentation Competition is our annual presentation competition for young railway engineers and apprentices. Entrants will deliver at 15 minute presentation on a railway engineering related topic.

The winner of NW Centre heat will be awarded the Sir William Stanier FRS trophy (for the year) and
receive a cash prize of £100, with £75 to second place and £25 for the runners up.

The winner has the opportunity to enter the national Future of Rail Competition, which has a first prize of £1000.


1. Rawia El Rashidy, IRR: The Red Approach by Train Service (RABYTS): Online tool for performance and safety analysis

2. Jordan Brant, IRR: Dependable Speed Measurement for Improved Low Adhesion Braking

3. Dan Basher, Digital Transit, Class 185 Deployable Step

4. Charlie Smith, Porterbrook, Optimising driver training through the Class 720/6 Simulator



We are also looking for volunteers for members to join the North Western Centre Committee and the AGM is a great opportunity to get involved.
