Description

The presentation will give a brief overview of the IEP Project in its entirety and then spend time on a number of the specific technical work streams; these will include the (well documented) EMC compatibility issues experienced on GWML & ECML, introduction of Bi-mode passenger trains to the UK network and the development of Automatic Power Changeover as part of Bi-mode operation. All have required significant cross-industry cooperation and have provided useful lessons to the parties involved for future development of novel systems.

Bob Downer, Projects Manager – Hitachi Europe Ltd. Bob joined the railway in 2004 after 10 years in the Royal Navy, first as a maintenance technician, then in various roles with TOCs , Manufacturers and ROSCOs until achieving his current role as Head of AT300 Engineering for Hitachi Rail Europe.
