Over this time Geospatial Engineering has provided understanding of where passengers and freight are coming from and going to, and Survey Technology has developed continuously. We will explore how we came to understand not just where point A and Point B are but how we can change where they are whilst keeping them in the same place at the same time,

    The presentation will give a brief overview of the IEP Project and then spend time on a number of the specific technical areas; these will include the EMC compatibility issues experienced on GWML & ECML, introduction of bi-mode passenger trains to the UK network and the development of Automatic Power Changeover as part of bi-mode operation. All have required significant cross-industry cooperation and have provided useful lessons to the parties involved for future development of novel systems.

    The Liverpool Lime Street remodelling scheme delivered a capacity increase of three extra services per hour through major works including complete renewal of the signalling and extensive renewal of track and overhead line equipment. An overview of the project and its delivery model will be provided, followed by an explanation of design integration processes and project staging strategy development. An in-depth view of track planning, delivery and challenges will be given.
