Her current research covers Global Challenges Research Fund projects with Sub-Saharan Africa to improve assistive technologies, and with South-Pacific Asia to study neurophysiological involvement of diseases in order to develop technologies that will alleviate current health-economic burden in developing countries.
This presentation will discuss the barriers and limitations of developing medical technology from a developed country, for use in developing countries.
Dr Aranceta-Garza is originally from Mexico City, where she studied Biomedical Engineering. Her interest in rehabilitation led to further postgrad study and research at the University of Strathclyde in upper limb prosthetics, particularly forearm anatomy and physiology using electromyography.
