Description

After completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Aberdeen University, Ian joined the Rolls-Royce graduate training scheme in Derby in 1986. Since completion of the scheme he has subsequently had posts within Manufacturing Technology, Engine Development and Service Engineering culminating in a posting to Berlin as part of International Aero Engines from 2006 to 2008. Upon his return to Derby he was fortunate to be appointed as Head of Corporate Heritage and Chief Executive of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust looking after the wide and wonderful heritage of Rolls-Royce including the Company’s Spitfire PR XIX. In 2018 he became Head of Spitfire Engineering managing the transition of the aircraft into Civil Aerospace division and co-locating with the Gulfstream G450 in a new hangar facility at East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire. In 2015 he wrote the Haynes Manual for the Rolls-Royce Merlin.
