The nuclear industry has a need to transport and store nuclear material and waste safely in containers for up to 100 years.
Each container has to be sealed remotely with a high degree of quality applied.
TANICS™has been jointly developed by Jacobs and Langfields to address this problem.
TANICS™ consists of a robotic welding system working with a robotic Eddy Current testing and visual inspection system, to seal the containers.
In addition to this, TANICS™ also provides a Modular Container design, Vacuum and Purge system as well as data management for Quality Control, with data and communications secured using a high grade cyber security system.
This webinar will discuss the capability of TANICS™ as well as the applications it has been developed for.
Martin Hooley is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Jacobs and a fellow of the IMechE. He is the Jacobs Lead Engineer for TANICS™ (The Automated Nuclear Irradiated Container System) a remote welding and Non-Destructive Testing system for storage containers.
