    Naval architect Will Brindley will showcase the design, build and testing of a first-of-its-kind system to charge offshore wind turbine electric offshore wind support vessels. Using this system vessels can tap into the renewable power generated by offshore turbines, providing a system that is low cost, easily maintained and operated, and highly scalable. The talk explains some of the key challenges and solutions to safely connecting in the harsh North Sea environment.

This will include an assessment of the primary energy usage categories of electricity, heat and transportation and how these inter-relate. The report looks at the challenges and opportunities for international engineering collaboration, especially in the light of the covid-19 pandemic, climate change and emerging geopolitical trends.
