Why do Formula 1 cars look the way they do? How do the Teams design the cars? What influences car performance? What next for F1? Drawing on his extensive knowledge and experience, these questions and more will be addressed by Steve Fenwick from the Renault F1 Team, in this joint RAeS, IET and IMechE lecture.
The races we watch on TV are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the people and effort involved. Steve will highlight some of the intense, highly-skilled work that takes place, 24 hours a day, at the team factories, just to take two cars racing somewhere in the world every couple of weeks. The lecture will provide insights into the design, performance and complexity of modern-day F1 racing cars, including a look into the F1 world at the pinnacle of automotive engineering, away from the TV cameras.
