    Norden Park & Ride Railway Station - Corfe Castle
    The visit will commence from the Norden Park and Ride near Corfe Castle where we will take the train to Swanage. This will be followed by a tour of the Swanage Railway Workshop at Herston, refreshments and a return trip to Norden Park and Ride. Parking at the Norden Park and Ride is free and return tickets will be provided. Numbers are limited to 20 (max) and these will be on a first come first served basis via this website, so it essential that you book to get a place on this popular tour.

    Typically less than half of the known oil in place is recovered from oil fields using conventional oil recovery techniques. The challenges of implementing EOR offshore will be reviewed covering low salinity water flooding, chemical flooding and miscible flooding. An overview of the potential for applying EOR processes in UK Continental Shelf fields will be discussed along with the major issues that need to be addressed.

    Richard Moore will bring along his Raspberry Pi and give a whistle-stop tour of its features, installation and use. The Raspberry Pi is an extra-ordinarily inexpensive computer with huge potential as an education aid and for serious work. It is 2012's answer to the fondly remembered BBC micro, but at a fraction of the price and with considerably more computing power to its elbow.

    The presentation focusses on the design methodology for DataFish, a met-ocean survey buoy designed to withstand tidal streams of up to 10 knots and statistical wave heights of 5m, and how it is being used to provide turbine developers with useful data that enable them to, assess the available energy resource, plan the siting of devices, understand flow dynamics, monitor the effect on wildlife, and monitor turbine performance.

    AmSafe Bridport have recently won a major contract with the UK MoD to provide RPG protection for a number of military vehicles currently in service in Afghanistan. The armour “Tarian” which recently won the Queens Award for Innovation was invented, developed and is manufactured exclusively by AmSafe at its factory in Bridport, Dorset. This lecture aims to cover what Tarian is, what it does, why it is so effective and why systems like Tarian are the future of lightweight protected mobility.
