Become a STEM Ambassador – Induction Session
STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths

Would you like to inspire young people and support a local school?
Would you like to give something back to your local community using your enthusiasm for STEM?

The STEM Ambassadors Programme organises around 29 000 STEM professionals across the UK to effectively support local schools and help to inspire young people to make the most of their talents and pursue careers in STEM. Free DBS certificates are arranged for all STEM Ambassadors.

We will be delivering a training session for STEM professionals interested in becoming STEM Ambassadors. The session will be run include:

  • The aims of the STEM Ambassador Programme
  • The types of activities that ambassadors support
  • How STEMNET and Winchester Science Centre supports ambassadors and STEM employers
  • What we expect of ambassadors
  • A quick hands-on activity!
  • Child protection information
  • Diversity – challenging stereotypes of scientists and engineers
  • DBS checks (we will need each ambassador to bring ID documents to the induction session).

Could all attendees please bring along ID documents ready for a DBS check for the induction.If you could bring all the necessary documents to this meeting, it will ensure your application to become a STEM Ambassador is processed swiftly. We will need 3 documents, ideally:

  • your passport,
  • driving license
  • and a recent bill (< 3months old that was posted to your address, Council Tax bills can be up to 12 months old)
