Description

Evening Technical Lecture, Professional Development Event etc.): Strength vs Efficiency in Wind Turbine Blade Design

The seminar will feature presentations from two experts – one in the area of wind turbine aerodynamics, the other in structural design of blades. The speakers will touch on one of the industry’s classic trade-offs: designing a structurally robust blade whilst maximising aerodynamic efficiency.

也会有me allocated for questions and answers.

Dr Adrian Gill, Lead Specialist in Rotor Engineering
伦敦帝国理工学院博士

Adrian is one of the senior technical members of the Rotor Engineering group. Rotor engineering are responsible for the structural design of the wind turbine blades. Adrian provides technical leadership throughout the design process including material selection and qualification, structural modelling and certification of products.

Thomas Potentier, Blade Designer in Aerodynamics
MSc, EUREC European Master of Renewable Energy, Ecole des Mines de Paris

Thomas is a blade designer in the Aerodynamics department. The aerodynamics department are responsible for the aerodynamic properties of the rotor and together with the structural team define the blade geometry. Thomas works in a cross-disciplined design team to optimise the cost and performance of new wind turbine blade designs.
