Visit Southampton Geothermal Power Station and District Heating

The Southampton District Energy scheme picked up Commercial Project of the Decade at the Association of Decentralised Energy (ADE)
S-G address is Pirelli St, S'ton, SO15 1BA
It is between Southampton Central station (south-east of) and West Quay shopping centre (along north side of). So near to the station andthere are several car parks nearby. We have been advised to use the West Quay one as it is cheaper than the others (We are strongly advised to purchase tickets as there is rigorous enforcement in the area !!)
Suggest group meets at 14.15 at S-G entrance for a 14.30 sign-in at reception

No Special PPE required - just Sensible Sturdy Footwear (no heels, open toes or sandals etc)
There will be a talk on the Plant and its History , Design & Operation.
There will be light refreshments
The visit should finish about 4 (to beat the rush-hour)




Members of the IMechE, other Professional Engineering Institutions, university students & lecturers, school/college teachers & pupils and all other interested parties are very welcome to attend (‘the more the merrier’!).Encourage your friends to come
