An evening visit to bus manufacturer Optare (an Ashok Leyland Company) in Sherburn.

Optare is one of the most respected names in the UK bus industry, who design, manufacture and sell single deck and double deck buses.

Building on a history of innovation, Optare have developed a range of low-carbon buses using enhanced diesel technology, alternative fuel options and hybrid systems, and even full electric drivelines setting the benchmark for fuel economy and CO2 reduction.

Optare’s integrated design is unique and features an easily demountable power pack. This allows their buses to be future proofed, allowing Optare buses to be upgraded to whatever is the best system over the 10 to 15 year life of the bus.

6pm arrival for 6:30pm start (light refreshments available). The evening will begin with a plant tour planned from 6:30 to 7:30pm. This will be followed by a brief presentation from 7:30 to 8:00pm on Optare's product range and future plans and direction.
