IMechE DSU Chapter successfully hosted the 'Speak Out for Engineering' (SOfE) event on 19th of November, 2018. The event was held at theExecutive Lecture Theatre. It commenced at around 1030 hours when the judges arrived. There were a total of 8 participants in the event. 3 judges from Toastmasters were also present at the event;先生。Hassan Ali Thebo, a former English teacher, currently practicing as an Advocate of the High Courts,先生。Siyid Najam Rizvi, a banker and head of project monitoring at Pak. Browning Investments Company, and先生。Ahmed Aftab, President of HUB Toastmaster Club IT Manager HubCo. Moreover internal judges from DSU,同上。默罕默德博士Farrukh该,同上。Dr. Haider Ali,同上。Dr. Muhammad Usama Siddique,同上。Zeeshan Ellahi Vohra,同上。Syed Hassaan Hussain,同上。Shoaib Ahmed,同上。Hamza Shams, and同上。Syed Najiullah Hussainiwere also present at the event. Lastly, the guests, Dean,同上。Dr. Johar Khurshid Farooqiand Head of Mechanical Department,同上。Dr. Muhammad Nauman Qureshialso honored us with their presence. All the respective judges were well-equipped with experience, stature, and intellect. They provided their expert opinion and time in thoroughly judging the participants’ knowledge and presentations.

The competition was divided into two halves. Five of the participants presented in the first half, and the remaining three participants presented in the second half. The participants came up on stage one by one and presented their ideas and projects in a fascinating way. Their presentations included topics related to Mechanical Engineering which included brilliant and innovative project ideas which they were currently working on or had already worked on, which, according to the participants, should have a practical application globally for human convenience and revolution.



Each participant explained his presentation with complete detail, to the judges for 20 minutes, who in turn asked questions and took an in-depth and detailed critique of each participant for 10 minutes. The judges fairly scored each participant according to the participants’ presentation skills and technical knowledge.

覆盖后up half of the event, the judges were taken for the refreshments’ session from 1300 to 1330 hours. After being done with the refreshments, the event resumed for the critique of the remaining participants. After all the participants were done with their presentations, the Dean, Engr. Dr. Johar Khurshid Farooqi followed by the Head of Mechanical Department, Engr. Dr. Muhammad Nauman Qureshi was called upon the stage to grace the occasion with his kind words of encouragement and appreciation for the participants and the judges.

At the end of the event, a token of appreciation was handed over to our respective judges, in the form of shields. The event was successfully wrapped up around 1600 hours.

The winners of the SOfE competition were announced as:

The topic of Hajira Ijaz Mirza was“Ingenuity for the Future Crisis on Drinkable Water”. Moving on, the topic of Umer Siddiqui was “Vertical Axis Wind Turbine”, and the topic of Muneeb Ather Kakwan was “3D Printer Technology”. These winning participants competed in the SOfE Regionals.
