IMechE UET Taxila chapter holds induction drive every year to intake fresh talent from the new batch. IMechE continued its legacy by holding induction drive for batch 2018. It was held on 12th and 13th November, 2018, in Mechanical Engineering Department of UET Taxila, Pakistan.

The main purpose of the drive is to intake fresh blood. This gives the chapter an edge by getting the cream from the fresh batch, as a freshly enrolled university student always looks for a suitable platform to use his skills to shape his career and personality. IMechE UET Taxila chapter provides these students the chances to polish their skills and groom themselves.

The students were informed in the first week of their entrance in university. The benefits of joining IMechE were presented before the membership drive, so that they know what they should do and why IMechE.

Induction Process:

The recruitment drive was held for two days. It started at 1100 and ended on 1500 hours on both days. In this year’s membership drive, a total of66students applied for the interviews. Not only the students of Mechanical department partook in it but the students of other departments (including energy and automotive) also showed their interest in IMechE.




Students were required to fill out an application form to appear in the interview. The application form contained 3 main questions:

1. Why do you want to be a part of IMechE?
2. What is IMechE for you?
3. What is your vision?

The students were interviewed by three panels of IMechE directors. Each panel had 3 directors in it. The executive members were assigned the minor tasks.

Judgement Criteria:

The appearing students were judged over:

• Communication skills
• Confidence
• Vision about future
• Technical & Non-technical skills

Every student was marked out of 30 by keeping in mind the above criteria, by each director from the interviewing panel. Every director also wrote remarks on the application form about the student.

After compiling the results, 40 out of 66 students were selected and officially announced as general members of IMechE UET Taxila Chapter. The list of general members was displayed in mechanical department and on the official Facebook page too.
