On Wednesday, December 14, 2011, IMechE inaugurated its first student chapter in Pakistan at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). Mr. Hassan N. Ansari CEng FIMechE, Representative of the IMechE Pakistan Group, was the chief guest for the ceremony. He appreciated the initiative taken by students of NUST to bring IMechE to student sector in Pakistan. IMechE NUST has already started national and international activities. A team under the supervision of the society is being assembled to participate in Formula Student and it is organizing a sub event at a national level Olympiad.

The society is operating under the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) at NUST. The principal of SMME was more than welcoming to have IMechE working in his school. The society is currently working with ten executive members and the team would be expanded soon, involving other schools of the university as well. The initiative taken will definitely prove fruitful in exposing IMechE to student community of Pakistan.
