    The SEA1000 program has defined a set of structured assurance arguments whereby safety goals are decomposed into sub-goals and strategies, ultimately traced to requirements and components of a submarine design. This presentation introduces and discusses this approach. A core motivation for this work is to firmly embed submarine safety within the foundations of the design from the earliest phases of the program.
