Description

SICK Pty Ltd was established in Australia as a wholly owned subsidiary of SICK AG, Germany in September 1982. From factory automation to logistics automation and process automation, SICK is one of the leading producers of sensors.
SICK’s sensors and application solutions for industrial use create the perfect basis for reliable and efficient control of processes, for protecting people from accidents, and for preventing environmental damage.

One of the core SICK’s business is laser technology. Laser scanners are used:

1. in heavy vehicles, ship loaders, stackers and reclaimers for collision avoidance;
2. to determine the profile of stockpiles and train wagon at load outs;
3. for non-contact volume measurement on conveyor belts; and
4. for railway monitoring.

Based on the market requirements from mining, wood, food and beverage industries, SICK developed a specific product for volume measurement on conveyor belts called Bulkscan®. Using the multi-echo technology, the Bulkscan® can
combine time-of-flight data with the belt speed to generate a reliable volume flow signal, regardless of the bulk material's properties or weather conditions. A Bulkscan® unit will be on display at the presentation.
