Description

This is the first time we will have the Young Members and Members presenting from the same platform. Do not miss this excellent opportunity to break down barriers in networking and learning.

Our SIT-UoG YMS Student Chapter is now in its third year and its presence has been increasing every year with more and more student affiliates joining IMechE through orientation membership drives and the development of interesting events.

During the pandemic, the Chapter has risen to the challenge of managing and organising events to engage more students and get them actively involved. In this short presentation, the speakers will share with members how it has been successfully achieved.

Reinforced plastic materials are now widely used in commercial aircraft such as in the fuselage of the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. They are now finding uses in the automobile industry such as in the BMWi6 as well as being the major part of a wind turbine blade. In fact, there are more and more uses being found for this material and its special properties.

How and why is this coming about? Are Reinforced Plastics environmentally sustainable? What is the future for Reinforced Plastics? Our speaker is an expert in the topic and he will attempt to address these important questions and more as well as explain to us the importance of this material and its potential for the future.

Please refer to the Flyer for more details.
